A major pool manufacturer turned to FrommConnect to modernize its production line, creating significant improvement in efficiency and safety.
The company’s 12-stage production line transforms flat sheet steel into frames for both above and below ground pools. Each stage performs a specialized task, such as stacking, bending, notching, drilling, and assembling.
Previously, it operated independently with individual controls for the hydraulic pump and machinery, requiring technicians to manage each station manually. This set-up was not only inefficient, but also introduced safety concerns.
FrommConnect’s solution involved upgrading the production line’s programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and human machine interfaces (HMIs) with advanced Rockwell Automation ControlLogix and FactoryTalk ME technologies.
Now, all 12 stages can be controlled from a single interface. This centralized control saves technicians valuable time by eliminating the need to walk to each terminal, allowing them to monitor and manage the entire production line from one location.
In addition, production data and reset options are now centralized. Technicians can see which stage is active, track the number of panels produced, and can easily shut down individual stages as needed.
